It's An MP3/Flash Card Player (USB disk):

Store your favorite music on a flash card or an MP3 player, and listen to it anywhere around the house. Use your remote to flip through the folders and songs to get the ones that you wish to listen to. Are you convinced yet? - Well, there's more.

It's A Multi-Media Player:

You can play any songs that are stored on your computer, anywhere around the house. How many times did you wish that you could listen to music that is stored on your PC in another room? I know. It sounds amazing. But, there is another item.

It's An Alarm Clock Radio:

Set your alarm to be turned on to whatever you want to wake up to

Critics Section:

I can use my media player (ipod®, mp3 player), and go anywhere I want.

Media player's are great, if you want to download something and listen to it while you are on the run. They are awsome. However, I am talking about listening to live broadcasts anywhere in the house, without sitting at a computer, using steaming audio. Media players definitely have their purpose. This device is for those individuals that want to listen live to their AM/FM/Weather/Scanner/Public Radio broadcast from anywhere in the house.

I have a convergent device (Blackberry®, Peabody®, HP HW6700®, TREO 650®, etc).

Again, these devices are great if you can afford the monthly charges. They have many of the same features as a laptop/cell phone. You will pay considerably more to purchase these devices than the Aluratek AIRMM01, but you will get more functionality. The kicker is that you wil pay dearly for the monthly service based upon your usage of the streaming feature. In most cases, you have to pay both a cell phone service and an internet service for usage of these devices. An example is the AT&T® cell phone/internet service (minimum internet service is $36.00 per month and $0.40 per minute (or part there of) for phone service. At that rate, it costs $432.00 per year, if you don't talk to anyone. You could buy 3 Alurtek AIRMM01s, and have one on the night stand, in the kitchen, and on the back porch. Again, NO MONTHLY CHARGE, NO MONTHLY CHARGE, NO MONTHLY CHARGE.

I can take my laptop and do everything, and more, than this device will allow me to do.

This is entirely true, and many people may currently use this process. If you do, please check out vTuner.com® and enjoy. The difference is both cost and functionality. Obviously, the purchase of a laptop would be considerable more, than the cost of this internet radio. If you already have a laptop that is great, but unlike a laptop, you don't have to log into the vtuner® web site to listen to a station. The point is that there are an awful lot of people who do not have, can not afford, and just plain aren't interested in owning a laptop. Again, this product is like your alarm clock radio that sits on your nightstand. It serves a different purpose.
